Hai all,
I have finally installed Linux after a lot of trails and errors… and i cant stress enough for the part of “errors”…
Linux is a very good OS. People (in general) wouldnt want to jump over to Linux OS because of several reasons, main being they are “lazy”.. this includes me also to some extent.
People would not want to go and do something for themselves… rather it should be done for them with a click of a button… well they are not partly to blame. they are more influenced by the products that are present to them. So when they are given the choice between two operating systems one is really good, very stable but you need to put some effort to learn it and the other being not so good and not stable.. but no effort to learn to operate it whatsoever guess which one we would choose?
My friend and I tried installing Linux the latest version, unfortunately it didnt work.. had to install the old version and voila! it works like a charm…
We were talking why Linux took a backseat in popularity while Windows zoomed past Linux.. different reasons, basic being the price. But wait a minute Linux is Open source, meaning you can download it from the internet for free!!!.. free is a word that everybody can relate to
.. (which also includes me) but there’s a catch… its (used) to be not so user friendly, but it did everything. Windows also almost did everything but it was not so stable plus with the fear of viruses attacking the system. But people still preferred cause it was projected as the fastest and more stable than any other OS. It was cheaper plus it was plug n play. While Linux was also the plug n play type, there was still the problems of configuring.. novice users would find installing linux in their PC’s would not be so easy whereas a novice user would install windows with less difficulty plus everythings configured with a few cds.
But the situation has turned… people has started noticing that not only looks matter, what matters is how good an operating system is. Others are just pure secondary.
I wish myself good luck in going ahead with Linux :-p…
